Hurricane Radio Broadcast Agreement Announced

CORAL GABLES, FL – Miami athletic director Paul Dee and Beasley-Reed Acquisition Partnership vice president and general manager Greg Reed announce a three-year agreement, plus a two-year option, granting Hurricane radio broadcast rights to Beasley-Reed.

Under terms of the agreement, WQAM-Miami, 560-AM, becomes theradio flagship station for Hurricane football, men’s basketball and baseballteams beginning with the 1999-2000 season.

“This agreement continues to further the exposure of Hurricaneathletics, not only in South Florida, but throughout the entire state,”said Dee. “We are pleased to join the family of teams that broadcaston WQAM. The station has established itself as the sports voice inour community and we look forward to a long, prosperous relationship.”

“WQAM is extremely proud to add the University of Miami to theradio station’s sports profile. The Hurricanes’ athletic programis renown for it’s excellence and for winning. We look forward toa long and fruitful relationship.”

WQAM will carry every University of Miami football and men’sbasketball game and a minimum of 15 baseball contests each season, in additionto all post-season games for all three sports.

The station also serves as the flagship for the Miami Dolphins,Florida Marlins and Florida Panthers. In the event of a conflictbetween the broadcast of a University of Miami event and the Dolphins,Marlins or Panthers, the Hurricane game is guaranteed live broadcast onWQAM or a comparable station.

For the last four seasons, WINZ-Miami, 940-AM, a division ofClear Channel Communications, served as the University of Miami flagshipstation.

The announcing talent for the Hurricane radio broadcasts hasyet to be determined.
