Hurricanes Football Practice Report
Aug. 8, 2000
CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami football newcomers worked out for two hours Tuesday morning to complete their last practice before the varsity joins them on the practice field Thursday. The practice focused on special teams and fundamentals.
“We’ve tried to simulate what the new players will see once the veterans arrive,” said head coach Butch Davis. “Probably the best thing that has happened has been the identification of some guys that can help us on special teams early. Chris Myers, Jeremy Shockey and David Williams may be able to step in at deep snapper and that helps us a great deal. Jason Geathers and Willis McGahee might be able to help us as return men. We’re finding some guys that can help.”
The Hurricanes take a day off from practice Wednesday for Hurricanes Media Day before full-squad two-a-days begin Thursday morning at 8:30 with an afternoon session slated to start at 3:30. WQAM Radio’s “The First Team” will broadcast live from practice Thursday morning beginning at 6 a.m. The first six days of two-a-day practices (from Aug. 10-15) will be open to the public.
