No. 38 Women's Tennis Edges No. 32 UCLA, 4-3

Los Angeles – The No. 38-ranked University of Miami women’s tennis team edged No. 32 UCLA 4-3 on the road Saturday afternoon at the Los Angeles Tennis Center.

The Hurricanes improve to 8-3 overall, while the Bruins fall to 3-8 on the season.

Miami won the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Marcy Hora teamed up with Lauren Scaglione at No. 2 doubles defeating Mariko Fritz-Krockow and Sara Walker 8-4. Sihem Bennacer and Bettina Hafner downed Jennifer Donahue and Catherine Hawley 8-3 at No. 3 doubles.

The Hurricanes fell at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 singles, but Bennacer defeated Fritz-Krockow 6-4, 6-3 at No. 5 singles and Scaglione beat Jennifer Donahue 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 singles, tying the match at three-all.

The match came down to court No. 4 where Hora defeated Lauren Fisher in three sets 6-0, 3-6, 6-3 to clinch the win for Miami.

The No. 38 Hurricanes are back in action Sunday at 2 p.m. PST taking on No. 12 Southern California.
