UM Men Win Four Events At Miami Gatorade Classic

Coral Gables, FL – The University of Miami men’s track and field team won four events and had the top collegiate finisher in three others at the Miami Gatorade Track and Field Classic at Cobb Stadium in Coral Gables, FL.

Junior Jeff Gaulrapp (Baldwinsville, NY) and sophomore Dan Boniface (Seattle, WA) led Miami with wins in the 1,500-meters and 3,000-meters respectively. Gaulrapp posted a season-best time of 4:00.23 in recording his first 1,500-meter victory of the season while Boniface, the school-record holder in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, recorded a time of 8:36.13 in easily outdistancing the field.

Junior Jabari Ennis (Kingston, Jamaica) recorded his third victory of the season in the pole vault with a mark of 4.72 meters (15-06). Ennis, ranked No. 1 ranked in the pole vault in the BIG EAST, has now won the event in two consecutive competitions and three of the last four meets.

Miami’s 4×100-meter relay of junior Gus Martin (Miami Northwestern), senior Daryl Jones (Dallas, TX), senior Najeh Davenport (Miami Central) and senior Joseph Mbayen (Paris, France) was also victorious (41.70).

Mbayen, ranked No. 1 in the BIG EAST in the 100-meters, was the top collegiate finisher in Saturday’s 100-meter final (10.77) while Martin, ranked No. 1 in the BIG EAST in the 110-hurdles, was the top collegiate finisher in final of the 110-hurdles with a time of 14.27.

Miami sophomore Gerard Wise was the top collegiate finisher in the javelin with a throw of 54.06 meters (177-04).

The UM men return to action on April 21 at the TCU Invitational in Ft. Worth, TX.
