Clarke, Owens Earn All-America Honors In Triple Jump

Eugene, OR – University of Miami junior Kareen Clarke (Lithonic, GA) and senior Antonnikka Owens (Orlando, FL) both earned All-America honors in the triple jump to highlight the third day of competition at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, OR.

Clarke and Owens become the first tandem in school history to earn All-America honors in the triple jump at the same NCAA Championship meet. The Hurricanes have had at least one athlete earn All-America honors at the NCAA Outdoor Championships ineach of the last 10 seasons.

Clarke finished sixth with a leap of 12.90 meters (42-04.00) to earn All-America honors for the third time of her career. Clarke earned All-America honors for the second consecutive season earlier this year with a fourth-place finish in the triple jump at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Clarke, who’s mark of 12.90 meters establishes a school NCAA Championship record, becomes the first Hurricane jumper in school history to earn All-America honors at both the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships in the same season.

Owens, competing in her first NCAA Championship meet, finished 12th with a leap of 12.59 meters (41-03.75) to earn All-America honors for the first time of her career.
