Hurricanes Football Welcomes 18 Newcomers

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) –

The University of Miami’s highly touted class of football recruits was officially greeted by head coach Larry Coker Tuesday morning. The newcomers reported beginning at 9 a.m. and were fitted for equipment, underwent physicals and checked in to their dormitories.

“This is always a special day for our new student-athletes and their families,” said head coach Larry Coker. “And it’s a special day for us. It’s really a milestone in their lives and in the life of our football program.”

Along with 17 players who signed with the Hurricanes in February, tight end Kaylan Little (6-2, 235) of Valencia Community College in Orlando also reported.

The newcomers will spend much of the week going through student-athlete orientation. Practices for the newcomers begin Thursday morning at the Greentree Practice Fields on the UM campus. Morning practice begins at 8:30 a.m. with an afternoon session slated to start at 3:30 p.m. The group will go through only University Orientation on Wednesday.

University of Miami Football Media Day will be held Friday, Aug. 9, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Full Squad two-a-day practices begin for the Hurricanes on Saturday, Aug. 10, and will be held at 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. daily. All practices are open to the public from Saturday, Aug. 10, through Friday, Aug. 16.
