The Diary of Andrew Lane

June 13, 2003

Once again, we woke up at 9:30 with the customary morning wake up call. After a quick shower, we head down to the hotel lobby for our morning breakfast. We were instructed to come down in our practice clothes, because from there we would be leaving for Bellevue West High School for practice. We did our running drills and a variety of others. From there, we left at 1:30 for a buffet lunch at Harrahs.

At 5:15 pm, we left for Rosenblatt’s to watch the LSU vs. Cal State Fullerton game. It was a pretty good game, even though there were a few errors. What impressed me, though, was to see how many people have come out for a college game. There was an electricity in the air as the two teams were announced. I can’t put into words how excited I am for tomorrow’s game.

We left for the hotel at 8:00 pm and when we got there, I left to go eat with some of the players. Our curfew is set for midnight. JD Arteaga, our pitching coach, has spent some time throughout the day talking to us pitchers about Texas. We’ll sit down a little more tomorrow and go over all the details. Right now, I’m getting ready to go to sleep but it’s going to be hard. Tomorrow, I will realize on of the dreams I had growing up…one of the reasons why I came to Miami. The chance to step onto the field of the College World Series and represent my University.
