Hurricanes Host Jacksonville in Three-game Baseball Series

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — The fourth-ranked Miami Hurricanes host Jacksonville for a three-game series at Mark Light Field beginning Friday, May 7, at 7 p.m.

The series continues Saturday, May 8, at 7 p.m. and wraps up at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 9. The Hurricanes enter the three-game series with a 33-9 record, while the Dolphins have a 21-25 mark.

The student voice of the Hurricanes, WVUM 90.5 will broadcast all three games against the Dolphins.

Left-handed pitcher J.D. Cockroft (5-3, 2.67 ERA) will go to the mound Friday night with a three-game winning streak on the line after pitching 21.2 consecutive scoreless innings.

Jacksonville will counter with its ace Dennis Robinson (11-2, 2.82 ERA), who is second nationally with 11 wins. The right-hander has pitched 102 innings with 61 strikeouts and 28 walks.

Right-hander Cesar Carrillo takes the hill for Miami on Saturday. He is 7-0 on the season with a 2.83 ERA in 60.1 innings. Carrillo lead UM in strikeouts with 47.

Miami will start left-hander Brandon Camardese in the series finale on Sunday. Camardese is 4-1 on the season with a 4.09 ERA.

The Dolphins will start either Donald Brickle (3-2, 3.77 ERA) or Kyle DeVries (3-7, 3.70 ERA) on Saturday with the other slated to start on Sunday.

Jacksonville is hitting .285 as a team with Brickle pacing the Dolphins with a .360 average. Orlando Diaz provides the power with eight home runs and 40 RBI. The JU pitching staff has a 5.08 ERA.

The Hurricanes are hitting .329 as a team, which ranks 12th nationally and third among teams in the top 25. UM is also scoring nine runs a game to rank 10th in the country. The UM pitching staff has a 3.72 ERA and is holding opponents to a .237 batting average.

Miami leads the all-time series with Jacksonville 71-19 after losing two-of-three games at Jacksonville last season. UM holds a commanding 45-8 record over the Dolphins in Coral Gables.
