CORAL GABLES, Fla. – First-year head coach Mario Rincon and the University of Miami men’s tennis team will open the 2005 dual season Wednesday, hosting in-state rival Florida Atlantic at 3 p.m. at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.

Rincon will lead the Hurricanes, who are ranked 48th in the latest ITA national collegiate rankings, into their first dual season in their inaugural season in the Atlantic Coast Conference beginning with Wednesday’s non-conference match with FAU.

Sophomore Josh Cohen – ranked 26th nationally in singles – returns after posting an overall record of 13-4 at the No. 1 position in dual play last season. Earlier this season, Cohen went 8-4 during the fall and claimed the USTA National Open Indoor Championship for the second consecutive year.

Junior Tim Krebs, who is currently ranked 123rd in the country in singles, enters the dual season after going 8-2 during fall play this year. Last season, Krebs went 10-8 in dual play, posting a 6-3 mark at the No. 4 position.

Cohen and junior Eric Hechtman are also ranked 43rd nationally in doubles. Playing primarily in the No. 2 slot, Hechtman went 15-5 overall in dual singles play last season and, along with Cohen, went 5-3 in doubles play this fall.

Admission to Wednesday’s match, as well as all UM home matches, is free to both the general public and students.
