Men's Cross Country Places Second At Gator Invitational

Gainesville, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – Led by senior Alex Brutvan (Boca Raton, Fla.) the University of Miami men’s cross country team recorded a runner-up finish at the Gator Cross Country Invitational in Gainesville, Fla.

Brutvan was the Hurricanes’ top finisher placing 11th overall with a time of 25:11.75. Brutvan’s time marks a career-best over eight kilometers. He has now been Miami’s top finisher in all 15 races in which he has competed dating back to the 2003 season. Brutvan did not run last weekend in the Hurricanes’ victory at the Sailfish Invitational.

Miami placed eight runners in the top-40 placing second with 70 points. Host Florida won the team title with 15 points. Henok Lechebo (Florida) won individual honors with a time of 23:53.81.

UM junior Tom Berry (Stamford, Conn.) posted another solid outing placing 13th with a career-best time of 25:17.60. Berry recorded his first collegiate win last weekend at the Sailfish Invitational.

The UM men return to action on Friday, September 30 at the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind.
