Hurricanes Head to Texas for Rematch

CORAL GABLES, <?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Fla. – The No. 15 Miami women’s tennis team will try to avenge an earlier season loss when it heads to Austin to face third ranked Texas Sunday, Feb. 26 at 2:00 p.m. EST. <?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>
The Hurricanes (5-3) dropped a tough 4-3 decision to the Longhorns (5-4, 2-0 Big 12) in the quarterfinals of the ITA Team Indoor Championships in early February.
Miami returns to the courts four days removed from a 5-2 victory over No. 30 Kentucky on Thursday. Sophomore Audra Cohen, ranked 13th in the nation, topped No. 22 Kim Coventry in straight sets extending her unbeaten record to 11. Cohen and senior Melissa Applebaum, who comprise the 22nd ranked doubles team in the nation, earned their fourth-straight win in the match.
Texas will host IowaState Saturday before welcoming Miami on Sunday. The Longhorns return to action after suffering a 7-0 sweep by No. 2 Florida. Three Longhorns are ranked in the Fila Collegiate Tennis singles rankings including No. 51 Petra Dizdar, No. 54 Kendra Strohm and No. 95 Courtney Zauft.
