No. 13 Miami Hosts No. 4 Duke, No. 8 North Carolina this Weekend

CORAL GABLES, <?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Fla. – Riding a six-match win streak, 13th-ranked Miami will square off with two top 10 ACC opponents this weekend at the NeilSchiffTennisCenter, taking on No. 4 Duke Friday at 10 a.m. and No. 8 North Carolina Sunday at the same time.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>
Having won each of their last six matches, including four-consecutive 7-0 sweeps, second year head coach and the Hurricanes are 12-2 on the year and sit at 4-1 in ACC play.
During the current six-match win streak, Miami has only surrendered two singles matches, one to an injury-forced retirement, and a total of three doubles matches.
In singles play, Miami is led by seventh-ranked Luigi D’Agord, who is 11-1 in dual play, 5-0 in ACC matches and 25-4 overall this season. D’Agord has won each of his last 10 matches and is 13-3 against ranked opponents.
Josh Cohen is ranked No. 48 with an overall record of 20-4, including a perfect 6-0 mark in the No. 2 position.
Also playing well of late are John Hoyes and Vivek Subramanian who have each posted eight consecutive singles victories.
In doubles, Miami’s lineup boasts the nation’s No. 46 doubles tandem in D’Agord and Vallverdu along with Miami’s all-time career leader in doubles victories, Eric Hechtman.
The Blue Devils are 11-3 overall and unbeaten at 3-0 in league play this spring.
Duke’s singles lineup consists of three nationally ranked players in No. 5 Ludovic Walter, No. 37 Jonathan Stokee and No. 62 Peter Rodrigues.
Stokke and teammate Joey Atas also hold a No. 29 national doubles ranking.
Miami has a 22-13 advantage in the all-time series with the Blue Devils.
North Carolina is currently 17-1 overall and 2-1 in ACC matches and will take to Florida State in Tallahassee Friday afternoon before heading to Coral Gables.
The Tar Heels Raian Luchici sits at No. 10 in the latest singles rankings and along with teammate Brad Pomeroy is ranked No. 6 in doubles play.
The Hurricanes are 18-9 all-time against North Carolina.
Members of the 2001 NCAA Sweet 16 men’s tennis team, which posted a 21-4 overall record, will be in attendance. Admission is Free.
