Faluade Takes Third At NACAC Championships

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic – University of Miami senior Brenda Faluade (Katy, Texas) placed third in the long jump at the North America, Central America, and Caribbean (NACAC) Under-23 Track and Field Championships in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Faluade, competing for the USA National team, matched her personal-best with mark of 6.43 meters (21-01.25). Yudelkis Fernandez (Cuba) won the event with a leap of 6.60 meters (21-08.00). American Kierra Foster was second (6.48 meters/21-03.25).

Faluade, a six-time All-American, qualified for the USA team with a fourth-place finish in the triple jump and a ninth-place finish in the long jump at the 2006 USA Track and Field Championships.

Finishing fourth in the long jump at the NACAC Championships was former Hurricane Tabia Charles (Pickering, Ontario) with a jump of 6.34 meters (20-09.75). Charles also took third in the triple jump with a mark of 13.62 meters (44-08.25). Charles, a 10-time All-American and the 2006 NCAA National Champion in the triple jump, competed for Canada.
