Hurricanes Open NCAA Regional Play against Louisville in Columbia Regional

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – – The University of Miami baseball team will begin its quest for a fifth College World Series title against Louisville on Friday, June 1 at 2 p.m. (ET)/1 p.m. (CT) at Taylor Stadium in Columbia, Mo. Miami, the second seed in the 2007 Columbia NCAA Regional, is making its NCAA-record 35th consecutive postseason appearance. Regional host Missouri opens regional play at 7:30 p.m. (ET)/6:30 p.m. (CT) against fourth-seeded Kent State.

All of UM’s Regional play can be heard on three different Miami stations. The Student Voice of UM, WVUM 90.5 FM; UM’s flagship, WQAM 560 AM and WWFE 670 AM or WHRC 1550 AM (Spanish) will carry the games locally.
Miami (36-22) will be facing Big East Conference runner-up Louisville (40-20) for the second time ever. The Cardinals earned an at-large bid after falling to Rutgers in the Big East Title series. Miami defeated the Cardinals, 13-4, in the only meeting between the two school which took place last season in Coral Gables.
Missouri (40-16), the Big 12 Conference regular season runner-up, is serving as a first-time host at Taylor Stadium. The Tigers are ranked as high as No. 11 nationally.
Kent State (33-24) won claimed its sixth MAC Tournament title last weekend. The Gold Flashes are making their eighth NCAA Regional appearance.
This is the fourth time Miami has not hosted a NCAA Regional in head coach Jim Morris’ 14-year tenure. Miami traveled to the 2006 Lincoln Regional, 2002 Gainesville Regional and the 1996 Central I Regional in Austin, Texas, advancing out of the bracket in all three instances.
