WORKING OVERTIME… Today’s overtime contest is the first for the Hurricanes since a 36-30 triple-overtime win at Clemson on Sept. 17, 2005. Since 1997, Miami is 3-4 in overtime games.RUSH HOUR… The Hurricanes rushed for a season-high 314 yards versus the Wolfpack, breaking the the 300-yard rushing plateau for the first time since compiling 339 yards versus Florida A&M on Sept. 9, 2006. It marked the third time Miami has run for more than 200 yards in 2007, as UM ran for 260 yards in its season opener versus Marshall (Sept. 1) and totaled 204 yards versus FIU (Sept. 15).

It is also the first time this season that a trio of Hurricanes have rushed for 50-or-more yards in a game, with Javarris James running for 103 yards, Derron Thomas rushing for 66 yards and Graig Cooper with 60 yards. Darnell Jenkins was just two yards shy of making a Miami quartet of 50-yard rushers for the first time since four ‘Canes rushed for 50-plus yards in that 339-yard performance versus Florida A&M.

Javarris James’ 103 yards rushing versus the Pack is the third-best performance by a ‘Cane in the series – with his cousin, Edgerrin James, posting the top rushing performance to date with 156 yards in 1998. It was Javarris James’ first 100-yard rushing performance of the season and the fourth of his career.

Miami’s 60 carries is a season high and is the most dating as far back as 1982. The Hurricanes had 59 carries for 281 yards in a 31-14 win over Mississippi State on Oct. 16, 1982.

RUN DERRON RUN… Derron Thomas’ 54-yard run in the first quarter is the longest of his career. His previous career long was a 28-yard romp versus USF on Oct. 1, 2005. Thomas also had a 27-yard run in UM’s Oct. 13 game versus Georgia Tech. Today’s 54-yard performance is just two yards shy of Miami’s longest run of the season – a 56-yard effort by Graig Cooper versus Marshall on Sept. 1.DARNELL DOES IT AGAIN… Darnell Jenkins’ 84-yard touchdown reception from Kirby Freeman in the second quarter is his second-longest career reception, and ties for the eighth-longest pass play in school history (Scott Covington to Reggie Wayne vs. Virginia Tech on Sept. 19, 1998). His career long – and the second-longest in UM history – is a 97-yard reception at North Carolina (Oct. 6, 2007). Today’s catch is his fifth reception of 35-yards or more this season.

The 84-yard touchdown pass from Kirby Freeman also marked the longest pass of his career.

RUN, PASS AND CATCH… Darnell Jenkins’ 39-yard run in the third quarter is a career long and ties Shawnbrey McNeal as the fourth-longest run of the season for the Hurricanes.FRESHMAN PHENOM… Graig Cooper has moved into third place on Miami’s all-time list for rushing yards by a true freshman, passing Frank Gore, who gained 565 yards in 2001. Cooper entered today’s game with 564 rushing yards and now has 624.BACK IN ACTION… Defensive tackle Antonio Dixon returned to field in the first quarter, his first action since sustaining an injury versus North Carolina on Oct. 6.DEFENSIVE DOMINANCE… The Hurricanes held the Wolfpack to just 22 yards on 12 plays in the first quarter. That is the fewest yardage allowed by Miami in the opening quarter over the last two seasons – with 31-yard efforts by both Texas A&M (Sept. 20) and Virginia Tech (Nov. 4, 2006) ranking as the second-fewest yards gained by opponents in the first quarter.HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE… The Hurricanes have outscored their opponents 44-0 in the first quarter and 81-7 in the opening half of play at the Orange Bowl in 2007. CAREER LONG… Freshman Matt Bosher set a career best with a 55-yard punt in the second quarter, while the 17-yard run by sophomore fullback Jerrell Mabry in the third quarter marked a career long.WELCOME HOME… Today’s contest vs. NC State marks the annual Homecoming game for Miami. In 71 years at the Orange Bowl, the Hurricanes are 45-24 on Homecoming (Homecoming games were not held twice over that span).ON THE BOARD… Since 1983, the Hurricanes have gone 193-21 when scoring first.
