Hurricanes Head to Orlando for UCF Invitational

CORAL GABLES – The University of Miami track and field teams hit the road for the first time this outdoor season, when they travel to Orlando to take part in the UCF Invitational, Friday-Saturday, March 27-28 at the UCF Track and Field Complex.

The Hurricanes will be among 15 women’s and 14 men’s teams in attendance this weekend. Field events will begin Friday at 4 p.m. with the men’s and women’s long jump along with the men’s javelin.

Freshman Rachel Dupree, who moved into fifth-place on the school’s all-time list in the heptathlon this past weekend at the Hurricane Invitational, will be competing in the long jump along with fellow freshman Britney Clark.

The top 5,000-meter finisher for Miami at the Hurricane Invitational, sophomore Charles Michel, will run in Friday evening’s 10,000-meter run at 6 p.m.

Junior Nene Kamate, the top collegiate finisher at the Hurricane Invitational in the 400-meters, will compete in three events on Saturday as she takes part in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes as well as the 4×400 relay.

Senior All-American Ena Leufroy will also participate in the 4×400 relay as well as her specialty, the 800-meters.

After reaching a new career-high 1.70m in the high jump during the indoor season, sophomore Megan Novinger will make her season-debut in outdoor action Saturday at noon.

For the men, senior Patrick O’Donnell will compete in the 400 and 800-meters as well as the 4×400 meter relay. He will be joined in the relay by Diego Rosado. Rosado, who moved into fifth-place in the school record book in the high jump during the Hurricane Invite, will also participate in the 110-meter hurdles, high jump and the long jump this weekend.

The Hurricanes will again be on the road next weekend as they participate in the University of Florida’s Florida Relays, April 3-4 in Gainesville, Fla.
