Chris Herrmann named Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week

Junior outfielder Chris Herrmann has been named the Muscle Milk Student Athlete of the Week for the period ending May 3. Herrmann led the ‘Canes in hitting on the week, going 9-for-17 with two homers and team-highs in hits (9), RBI (5), runs (3), total bases (17), slugging percentage (1.000) and on-base percentage (.529). He recorded his first two-homer game of his career in UM’s 7-5 win on Saturday over Boston College. Herrmann joined Yasmani Grandal and Harold Martinez in game two of the BC series as part of UM’s first back-to-back-to-back home runs since 1997 when Jason Michaels, Pat Burrell and Aubrey Huff accomplished the feat against Richmond on May 22, 1997. He also went a career-high 4-for-4 against BC on Sunday, recording four of UM’s nine hits on the day. On the season, Herrmann is hitting .321 with a team-high 46 runs scored. He has eight doubles, six home runs and 32 RBI. |
