Miami Women Crack Top-10 in Latest USTFCCCA Poll

CORAL GABLES – The University of Miami women’s track and field team cracked the top-10 for the first time this season in the latest U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll Tuesday as they are the No 9 ranked team in the nation.

The Hurricanes are one of five ranked women’s ACC teams in the poll, joined by No. 5 Virginia Tech, No. 6 Clemson, No. 10 Florida State and No. 18 North Carolina.

Miami is led by Ti’erra Brown who is the No. 2 nationally ranked student-athlete in both the 100 and 400m hurdles with times of 12.83 and 55.55 seconds respectively. Other top-10 ranked individuals are No. 8 Tameka Jameson in the 400m hurdles (57.57) and No. 8 Deandra Doyley in the triple jump at 13.22m (43-04.50).

Both the relay teams are ranked in the top-20, 17th in the 4×100 at 44.62 seconds and 18th in the 4×400 with a season-best time of 3:35.58.

In the 100m dash, senior Kristy Whyte and junior Tarika Williams are ranked 17th and 25th respectively with times of 11.38 and 11.49 seconds.

Tameka Jameson is also ranked in the 400m dash, she is currently 16th at 53.33 seconds.

Her twin sister, Takecia is the third Hurricane with a top-25 ranking in the 400m hurdles as she is 16th with a time of 58.14 seconds.

Doyley also holds a No. 16 ranking in the long jump at 6.30m (20-08.00).

Miami is next scheduled to return to the track on May 14 at the Georgia Tech Invitational.
