CORAL GABLES, Fla. – – In their fourth match of the new year the No. 31 University of Miami men’s tennis team will play host to the Owls of Florida Atlantic University on Thursday, Jan. 19 at 2 p.m. at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.

Sophomore Gabriel Flores will lead the Hurricanes at the No. 1 position. Last week he won both his singles and doubles match on the final day of the Gardnar Mulloy Miami Invitational. Flores had an impressive campaign as a freshman going 20-14 and looks to strengthen as an individual this year.

Freshman Henrique Tsukamoto will also look to build on the first tournament of the season. He was able to win his first match as a Cane when he defeated Texas Tech’s Rafael Garcia in a second set tiebreaker 19-17.

FAU looks to improve from last season after it finished 2011 with a record of 12-10. The Owls also advanced to the semi-final of the Sun Belt Conference tournament. FAU relies on junior Taylor Albrecht for his leadership as the only upperclassmen on the squad as well as the hot handed freshman Chris Janssen.

Last week the Hurricanes competed in the Gardnar Mulloy Miami Invitational. Against FAU, Miami will look to improve from tough matches against No. 11 Texas A&M, No. 17 Illinois and No. 22 Texas Tech in that tournament.
