"Kick For The Cure" Set For Oct. 14

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The Oct. 14 home soccer matchbetween the Miami Hurricanes and the visiting Virginia Tech Hokies will serveas the team’s annual “Kick for the Cure” game benefiting the Austen EverettFoundation.

Everett, a former goalkeeper for the women’s soccer teamfrom 2007-2009, passed away in August after a four-year battle withnon-Hodgkins lymphoma. The foundation, named in her honor, is dedicated toraising money to combat cancer, empowering sick youth in their battles withcancer and helping them find support and strength.

Both Austen’s mother and fiancé will be in attendance atthis year’s match. Prior to the game, there will be a moment of silence inmemory of the beloved former Hurricane.

In addition to a silent auction featuring UM soccer andUM Athletics memorabilia, the team will wear pink “Kick for the Cure” shirtsduring warm-ups that will be sold during the game. All donations, auctionproceeds and shirt sales will go to benefit the Austen Everett Foundation.
