#CANESCAMP NOTES 

• #100Days Countdown to Kickoff: 25 days (Miami opens 2013 season Aug. 30 vs. FAU at 8 p.m. on ESPNU)
• Monday was the third of the NCAA-mandated 5-day acclamation before full pads are allowed.
• Monday was Miami’s first session in shoulder pads.
• Freshman QB Michael Welch, a walk-on from Winnetka, Ill., completed his compliance paperwork Tuesday morning and was on the field in time for his first #CanesCamp practice.
• Sophomore DB Deon Bush and freshman DB Corn Elder were in red (non-contact) jerseys.
• Freshman OL Sunny Odogwu was in a yellow limited-contact jersey after spending the first two practice sessions in red.
• Senior OL Seantrel Henderson, who was in yellow Sunday, was back in an orange (offensive starter) jersey Monday.
• Graduate P Pat O’Donnell, who spent the previous four years at Cincinnati, was impressive with his punting during Tuesday’s practice. O’Donnell was timed with a 4.71 hangout on one of his kicks.
• During play-action skeleton drills, Duke Johnson broke off a huge run thanks to a big-time block from Malcolm Bunche.
• During DB drills, Al Golden praised redshirt freshman DB Nate Dortch for his technique, dubbing him Nate “the Clinic Tape” Dortch. Hurricanes concluded practice with 11-on-11 with no pads.

QUOTABLES
Al Golden on Tony Musto and team nutritional needs…
“We use the ‘Rebuild, Recover, Refuel’ philosophy that Tony has brought. We’re giving guys specific diets, we’re meeting their nutritional needs, which is really important. We’re grateful to the administration and Blake (James) for their support in that capacity. The culture has changed. It’s no longer okay to be a 208-pound linebacker here anymore.”

Golden on who’s been the most impressive after two days…
“If you were to ask me who the most impressive player on the team is after two days, I’d tell you Pat O’Donnell. He’s mature, poised, locked in and he’s on a mission right now. There’s no question that he’s on a mission. We’re glad he’s here and we’re very fortunate that he’s here.”

Eduardo Clements on being medically cleared…
“I was very excited to hear the doctor say that I’m good for contact. I felt like that was the best day of my life right there…A lot of times throughout the process, I thought I was never going to play football again because of what the doctors were saying about my back.”

Shane McDermott on blocking out preseason hype on offensive line…
“It’s not that hard. We are trying to become an internally driven team and I think we’ve reached that point. We try to ignore all of that and stay together as an offensive line.”

Brandon Linder on the offense…
“I think we can be good. We have to keep to the plan and execute it and then come out here every day and keep working on it to build on last year.”
