@CanesVB To Play Three TV Matches

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami volleyball program will have three matches broadcasted during the 2013 season as part of the ACC’s Olympic Sports television schedule.

The Hurricanes’ match Oct. 4 at Clemson scheduled for 7:30 p.m. will air on ESPN3. Miami’s Oct. 16 match at Florida State will air at 8 p.m. on ESPNU. The Canes’ Oct. 25 match at Wake Forest is scheduled to be broadcast on a regional sports network or ESPN 3, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The three matches are part of a record 102 ACC Olympic sports events scheduled to be broadcasted this fall, surpassing last year’s mark of 77 events broadcasted. In addition to the 102 events announced Thursday as part of the ACC’s Olympic Sport television package, other games may be added as the start of each respective season draws closer.

“We are pleased to be able to showcase the ACC’s Olympic Sports at an unprecedented level this fall,” said ACC Commissioner John Swofford. “With Notre Dame, Pitt and Syracuse competing for the first time as league members, it’s an exciting time for all the players, coaches and fans. We appreciate the relationship we have with our television partners and look forward to continuing to showcase the ACC and its 15 member schools.”

In 2012, the Hurricanes went 5-3 over their eight broadcasted matches. Miami finished 25-6 last season, amassing a 17-3 conference record en route to a second place finish in the ACC.

The Canes, who bring back AVCA All-American Emani Sims and All-ACC selections Alex Johnson, Alexis Mourning and Ryan Shaffer, open their first season under new head coach Jose “Keno” Gandara on Aug. 30.
