Homestanding Hurricanes
• No. 12 Miami closes out its regular season with eight straight home games before traveling to Durham, N.C. for the 2015 ACC Baseball Championship at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The homestand begins Wednesday against Bethune-Cookman at 7 p.m.
• Miami leads the all-time series by a commanding 29-5 margin, and topped the Wildcats 13-3 in the only other head-to-head matchup of 2015 on April 1. Bethune-Cookman is 16-37 and 14-10 in MEAC play.
• Miami is 8-2 in midweek games this season, and has a 23-4 mark in games played at Mark Light Field.
Shut Them Down
• Miami’s bullpen, who calls themselves the “Bullpen Mafia,” has recorded a 2.27 ERA in 181.2 combined innings this season, and has been a key reason for UM’s success.
• Among the Hurricanes’ top arms out of the bullpen: sophomore All-American closer Bryan Garcia (2.96 ERA, nine saves), freshman lefthander Michael Mediavilla (1.75 ERA, 25 appearances, 35 Ks), senior walk-on Daniel Briggi (1.40 ERA, 21 Ks) and righthanded sidewinder Cooper Hammond (2.20 ERA, 26 appearances).
• Garcia is in sole possession of fifth place in program history with 24 career saves; his nine this season are the third-most in the ACC.
• Miami’s staff ERA to open the week (3.27) was the fourth-best mark in the ACC.
Power Surge
• After connecting for four homers in its series against Pittsburgh, Miami now has 38 home runs in 2015. The Hurricanes had just 25 homers in all of 2014.
• The Hurricane bats combined to hit just .261 through the first 47 games of the 2014 season, but are hitting over 50 points higher (.304) for the second-best team average in the ACC this spring.
• Only four players had more than home run at this point in 2014, and the team had just 19 total. Seven players have multiple home runs this spring, with UM home runs up 100% (from 19 to 38).
• Miami’s offense is averaging 7.3 runs per game (compared to 5.65 at this point in 2014), and its slugging is up nearly 80 points to .444 (from .365 in 2014).
