@CanesRowing Announces 2015 Fall Schedule

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — The University of Miami rowing program will compete in three events in the 2015 fall season, head coach Dave Sanderson announced Tuesday.

The Hurricanes will row in three events this fall, including a repeat appearance at the prestigious Head of the Charles. Sanderson believes the competitive schedule will help Miami open the 2015-16 season strong. 

“I am looking forward to our fall racing schedule,” Sanderson said. “Our main goals for the fall season revolve around developing technical skill and physiology for the spring season. But, of course, it is fun to race at these fall events and the team looks forward to them.”  

Miami will open the fall at the Head of the Indian Creek on Oct. 11. The Hurricanes will compete on their home course in their first competitive racing of the fall.

The Canes will have two entries in the prestigious Head of the Charles regatta in Boston. Miami has two entries in the Club four event scheduled for October 17-18.

Miami will close out its fall season at the Head of the Hooch regatta in Chattanooga, Tenn. A year ago, the Canes had four boats compete at the Head of the Hooch. They will look to improve on their previous success in this year’s Head of the Hooch, scheduled for November 7-8.

“I am pleased that we will again get to race at the Head of the Charles in Boston,” Sanderson said. The Head of the Charles is always a great race and later on in November nearly the full squad, novices included, will get to race at the Head of the Hooch in Chattanooga. I am excited to see what kind of speed we can build between now and then.”
