@CanesFutbol vs. No. 2 UVA in First ACC Home Match

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami soccer team is set to begin its ACC home slate Thursday when it hosts second-ranked Virginia at Cobb Stadium at 7 p.m.

This will be the first time the Hurricanes play at home against the Cavaliers since 2012. Miami traveled to Charlottesville, Va., in both 2013 and 2014, while last year was the first time since 2003, the year before the Hurricanes joined the ACC, in which the two sides did not meet.

Miami brings a 5-4-0 (0-1-0 ACC) record into the match, with all five of its victories coming via shutout. Each of the Hurricanes’ last five outings has ended with a 1-0 final, with Miami winning two and dropping three.

The Hurricanes are tied for third in the ACC in assists with 23 and tied for fourth in goals allowed with five. Miami, which will be facing its second straight top-three opponent, has conceded multiple goals just once in its first nine outings of the year.

Virginia is 8-1-0 (1-0-0 ACC) in 2016 with all eight of its wins coming in shutout fashion. The Cavaliers went 19-1-3 (9-1-0 ACC) last year and advanced to the Elite Eight, marking the program’s 11th consecutive trip to at least the Sweet 16.

As is the case with all matches at Cobb Stadium, entry to Thursday night’s game is free. The first 150 students in attendance will receive Miami soccer scarves and team posters will be available for all fans.
