Andre Johnson and Sean Spence of the Tennessee Titans enjoyed a successful homecoming, while another Hurricane made more history for Indianapolis. Read on for more from across the NFL.
Anthony Chickillo (Pittsburgh Steelers) – three tackles, one sack, one forced fumble
Pittsburgh’s second-year outside linebacker Anthony Chickillo has seen increased playing time this season and had another big game Sunday in a 31-13 win over the New York Jets. Chickillo recorded a season-high three solo tackles and added his first career sack on a takedown of Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick that resulted in a forced fumble. Chickillo has already surpassed his 2015 total (six) with eight tackles through the team’s first five games.
Sean Spence (Tennessee Titans) – seven tackles
Sunday marked a successful homecoming for Sean Spence, who helped lead his Titans side to a 30-17 win over the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium. Spence recorded a season-high seven tackles (four solo) and added his second pass breakup of the season in the victory. Spence, who has started two of the team’s five games, has totaled 20 tackles this season. His 20 tackles are tied for the fourth-most on the Titans, who picked up their second win of the season.
Frank Gore (Indianapolis Colts) – 14 carries, 75 rushing yards
For the second consecutive week, Frank Gore made history for the Indianapolis Colts. The talented veteran surpassed Jim Brown on the NFL’s all-time rushing list in a 29-23 win over the Chicago Bears, totaling 75 rushing yards on 14 carries. Gore, who needed just 19 yards to move past Brown into ninth place, now has 12,368 yards in his 12 NFL seasons. The five-time Pro Bowler now needs less than 500 yards to move past Tony Dorsett into eighth place all-time.
Travis Benjamin (San Diego Chargers) – 7 catches, 117 yards
Nicknamed the “Belle Glade Blur” for his eye-popping speed, San Diego wideout Travis Benjamin put his talents on full display in Sunday’s 34-31 loss to Oakland. Benjamin hauled in a team-high seven catches for 117 yards, including a long catch of 54 yards where he broke free in a footrace up the near sideline. Benjamin has provided an injection of speed into the Chargers’ offense, and now has 28 receptions for 394 yards in his first year with his new team.
