Richards Named Tri-ACC Rookie of the Week

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami freshman wide receiver Ahmmon Richards was named Atlantic Coast Conference Tri-Rookie of the Week on Monday by the league office.Richards’ weekly honor marks the second time this season he has been recognized by the ACC.

The Wellington, Fla., native earned the distinction after he hauled in eight passes for a Miami freshman record 144 yards receiving against Pittsburgh. His 144-yard performance surpassed his previous freshman record of 142 yards, which he set in the Hurricanes’ winning performance at Appalachian State back on Sept. 17.

Richards also caught passes of 41 and 38 yards, both of which helped set up Miami touchdowns and guided the Hurricanes to a convincing 51-28 win over the Panthers. His 38-yard reception came in the fourth quarter and marked the 11th pass he has caught of 20 yards-or-more this season.

Miami returns to action at 2 p.m. this Saturday at Virginia. The game will be aired live on RSN.
