Lomacki Rises to No. 51 in the ITA Singles Rankings

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami men’s tennis junior Piotr Lomacki rose 22 spots in the latest ITA singles rankings, released Tuesday, now moving the Hurricane to the No. 51 spot.

Playing No. 1, Lomacki is 8-6 to start his junior campaign, earning a trio of victories against fellow ranked opponents. Earlier in the season, the junior defeated then-No. 51 Jack Findel-Hawkins of North Florida, 6-1, 6-1, before taking down Minnesota’s then-No. 68 Matic Spec, 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5). This past Friday, the native of Poland defeated North Carolina’s then-No. 19 Ronnie Schneider, 7-5, 6-4.

Joining Lomacki, following their upset victory over the top-ranked doubles team in the nation, seniors Max Andrews and Jesse Flores are the No. 56 doubles tandem in the country.

The duo faced off against No. 1 Wake Forest’s Christian Seraphim and Skander Mansouri Sunday afternoon in Winston-Salem, N.C. The Canes’ seniors jumped out to a lead they would not look back on, 2-1, before earning the 6-4 victory.

The Hurricanes (6-9, 0-6 ACC) will return to Coral Gables, Fla., this weekend, as they welcome Boston College and the University of Notre Dame to the Neil Schiff Tennis Center. Miami will begin the weekend against the Eagles Friday at 3 p.m., before taking on the Fighting Irish Sunday at noon.
