MBB to Play Three Games during Foreign Tour

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s basketball team departs Friday for a 10-day, eight-night trip to Italy.

The Hurricanes, who last went on a foreign tour to Spain in 2014, are set to play one game in each of their three stops.

Miami begins its trip by spending three days in Rome and then heads to Florence for three days. The visit concludes with two days in Como.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to take our program on this incredible trip abroad,” head coach Jim Larrañaga said. “This will be a special experience for our student-athletes, who will learn about Italian culture, as well as visit some of the most historic and beautiful sights in the world. Along with providing us three competitive games in the summer, the trip will be an excellent bonding experience for our players and should be great for team chemistry.”

The first game for Miami is against Stella Azzurra Academy in Rome Aug. 12 at 6 p.m. The six-hour time difference sets the tip time for at noon in Coral Gables. 

Up next for the Hurricanes is a matchup against BC Šilutė, a Lithuanian club, in Florence Aug. 14 at 7 p.m. With the time change, the tipoff is 1 p.m. ET in Coral Gables.

Finally, Miami squares off with another Lithuanian team, LCC International University, in Como on the final day of its tour, Aug. 17, at 7 p.m. The local time in Coral Gables for the game is 1 p.m. ET.
