MIAMI LAKES, FL (hurricanesports.com) – Sophomore Tina Miller (MiamiArchbishop Curley Notre Dame) fired an opening-round 76 and is ineighth-place at the Ryder Florida Women’s Collegiate Golf Championship beingheld at Don Shula’s Golf Club and Resort in Miami Lakes, FL.
Miller, who has one victory to her credit already this season, trailsCharlotte Campbell (Rollins) by four strokes. Campbell recorded an even-par72 on Friday to take the first round lead.
There is a five-way tie for second with Kristin Tamulis (Florida State),Maria Dunn (Bethune-Cookman), Jessica Carafiello (Florida Atlantic), CarolineLarsson (Florida State) and Alison Curdt (Florida State) all recording firstround 74’s. UM’s Camilla Hilland (Lommedalen, Norway), the defendingchampion, opened with a score of 78 and is tied for 14th.
As a team the Hurricanes recorded a 319 and is in seventh-place.Defending team champion Florida State is alone in first-place after posting a298. Florida Atlantic (311) is second followed by Rollins College (312).
Second-round action will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday with Sunday’sfinal round starting at 8 a.m.
