UM's Miller Qualifies For US Women's Open

West Bloomfield, Mich. (hurricanesports.com) – Miami junior Tina Miller (Miami Archbishop Curly Notre Dame) recorded a 36-hole score of 148 (75-73) at the sectional qualifying tournament at Knollwood Country Club in West Bloomfield, Mich. to qualify for the US Women’s Open to be played July 1-4 at Orchards Golf Club in South Hadley, Mass.

“This is very exciting,” said Miller. “The opportunity to play against professionals in a major tournament will be a great experience for me. I look forward to going out there, having fun and playing good golf.”

Miller, who was the low amateur at the Sectional, is the second Hurricane in the last four seasons to qualify for the US Women’s Open joining Dominique Gagnon in 2001.

Miller was the Hurricanes top finisher in six tournaments this season and posted a team-best 75.7 stroke average. She recorded two tournament victories this past season and registered six other top ten finishes.

Former Hurricane Kim Augusta also qualified for this year’s US Women’s Open posting a two-round total of 147 (74-73) at the sectional in West Bloomfield.
