Hurricanes Win by 19 Strokes to Claim Waterlefe Invitational Title

BRADENTON, Fla. – Led by senior Tina Miller’s four-under par final round of 68, the University of Miami women’s golf team claimed the Waterlefe Invitational with a three-round total of 888 (+24) Tuesday afternoon at the Waterlefe Golf and River Club.
Miller’s final-round score of 68 put her four-under par for the tournament with a three-round total of 212 (73-71-68) giving her the individual title with a two-stroke lead over Lisabeth Meincke of Georgia State.
The win marks Miller’s sixth individual career victory, and her second this year. The team title is the second for Miami this season.
Sophomore Tiffany Pratts finished fourth overall with a five-over three-day total of 221 (77-70-74) and fellow classmate Josie Shinn finished fifth with a six-over 222 (77-73-72).
As a team, the Hurricanes put together scores of 303, 293 and 292 in the first, second and third rounds, respectively, to finish with a three-round 24-over par total of 888 – 19 strokes ahead of second-place South Florida.
UM’s second round score of 293 was the third-lowest score of the tournament and their final-round score of 292 was the second-lowest of the three-day event.
