@HurricanesGolf Posts Strong Opening Day at NCAA Regional

BRYAN, Texas – The University of Miami women’s golf team opened play on Thursday at the NCAA Regional Championship and stand in sixth place with a first round score of 290.

The Hurricanes’ opening day score of 290 is just five strokes behind tournament leaders Georgia and Arizona, which posted a first round tally of 285.

The tournament, hosted by Texas A&M, is being held at the Traditions Club, par-72, 6,373 yard course.

Junior All-ACC honoree Daniela Darquea led the way for the Hurricanes as she carded a round one total of four-under-par, 68. Darquea’s opening day score marks the 10th time this season in which she has posted a round of 70-or-less. She currently is in second place.

Freshman Dewi Weber also is in the top 10 as she is tied for seventh. Weber posted an opening round of 70.

Junior Delfina Acosta rounded out the Hurricanes’ top three as she tallied a first round score of 75 and is tied for 46th.

Gonzaga’s Bianca Pagdanganan leads all individuals after she recorded a first round 67.

Miami returns to the course tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. EST.
